In the past couple of years there seems to be some problem with the online business. Something really massive then we actually can grasp. Like the other businesses, the online business also has developed a lag, which is mainly due to the pursuit of wealth and success. This lag is due to nothing but ethics, which have turned too flexible for the online business owner. Ethics have turned into nothing but a puppet in their hands. A puppet that can be treated any way one wants and any way one wants it to be. Where there was time when online business owners tried to avoid compromising on the ethics, it has now turned into a mere chaotic situation that is filled with acquisitiveness and hype... loads of it!
In terms of online marketing practices, there seems to an unethical emarketing practice ready to be used, as and when one wants to. For instance, there are many businesses which ‘pick up’ content from another site without even having a link back to the original site. Is that ethical?? Since when was online theft legal? In the real world, this is termed as plagiarism or breach of copyright in legal terms.
To be more precise, if a book or even a newspaper article was picked up from another magazine, it would that be acceptable? Definitely not! There could be chances you could even lose your job for copying someone else’s written work. But, relating the same thing to online content you would hear that “it’s ok” to borrow someone else’s content. Only thing is that we all know you are keeping the content and not even acknowledging the original writer of the online content.
Every article directory or automatically generated site we see quite often is nothing but a search engine spam. Some call them doorway sites, others call them article directories, but they are nothing but article spam. Besides, almost all the articles you see today have been written for promoting a service or product that belongs to some company or the other. Its seldom you find educational and truly helpful content, other than medical and informational sites that are meant to educate the visitors.
The search engine spam we spoke about earlier is clogging the search engines and making it difficult for visitors to get hold of relevant content. Moreover, merchants and legitimate marketers also find it difficult to get hold of a good place on the search engine results page (SERPs). Its this illegitimate marketers that show no signs of respect for the industry. All they do is basically take advantage of the available resource and partake in what we better know as internet abuse.
Running online business(s) does not give you the liberty of pulling off any marketing ploy, stunt or trick. Don’t be under the notion that being online can help you to easily break yourself away from ethics. You cannot part the hardworking people from their deserving, hard-earned money. People matter, and so do ethics. Ethical marketing paves the way for a secure and successful. More to the point, you would not want one small mistake spoil all your work and lead your business to the doldrums
